Skeuomorphism vs Flat Design
Skeuomorphism is the representation of real world objects used in a website, for example a button on a webpage that has a three dimensional effect that makes it look like a real world button. This is of course inefficient because the website would take longer to load and it also waste a lot of page space. Therefore the preferred way of representing objects on websites would be to use flat design, which is a recent trend among web developers. Flat design is a more simplistic way of representing objects on websites, for example instead of having an obnoxious looking three dimensional button a simple one dimensional square would get the job done.
